It is an honor to serve as President of The Outdoor Art Club for 2009-2010. As we complete our 106th year, we celebrate our accomplishments, those of the founding ladies and all members past and present. As we start our 107th year, we face a year of challenges and opportunities which are outlined in the most recent issue of the Communicator. Certain anniversaries can trigger a period of reflection, review and reassessment. For me such significant milestones include the new year, my birthday and my wedding anniversary. It was on my last birthday that I reflected on all this Club has meant to me in terms of the friends I have made and the knowledge I have gained. It has been through active engagement in all phases of Club activities that I have developed friendships with so many wonderful women.who continue to enrich my life. I ask all members, especially those of you who have not been actively participating in Club meetings and other events, to take a few moments to reflect on why you originally joined the OAC. Review what you have contributed, and what you have gained by being a member. Reassess your participation, and define the role the Outdoor Art Club plays in your life today. At the closing luncheon I presented the theme for this club year, “Reaching Out”. Let’s reach out to members who have not been active, participating members. Consider it a “Homecoming” year. I want members to reach out to each other and strengthen the amazing support network we all share. In reaching out we will all stretch, grow and thrive. When someone reaches out to you and asks for your assistance on a committee or event, please consider giving of your time and talents for the good of the club. Our lives and priorities change over time. Inertia is a powerful force to overcome but it can be done. Your friends at the Outdoor Art Club are reaching out to you and would love to see you more often, taking a more active part in the life of the Club. If those of your who are active members, is there someone you haven’t seen at the club lately? Give her a call or drop ther a note urging her to “come home.” Janis Bosenko |
